Sports Recovery and Performance Coaching

Get back to Your Best

If you’ve experienced a sports injury, you may feel anxiety, diminished self-esteem, reduced motivation, or grief. All of these feelings—and more!—are normal, but they can prevent you from reaching your goals and living an active lifestyle. Fortunately, cognitive hypnotherapy and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) treatments in sports recovery and performance coaching can help you heal.

Sports recovery

It can be frustrating and discouraging to have to sit on the sidelines after a sports injury. Alongside the physical pain that comes with an acute period of injury (the first six months), many people are psychologically impacted as well. You may have developed anxiety related to:

  • Feeling outperformed

  • Feeling disconnected from your social group

  • Losing progress

  • Parental disappointment (for children and youth)

Sometimes, these fears create bigger challenges. You may grieve the perceived loss of your lifestyle. Your self-esteem might be impacted. Or you may push yourself to return to competition before you’re recovered, risking reinjury. All of this is understandable! But you don’t have to keep feeling this way.

Performance Coaching

If you’ve returned to your sport after an injury, even after a brief pause, feelings of low self-esteem, failure, or lost progress can impact your performance, which in turn, can intensify any mental health challenges.

If the pain and limitations related to a sports injury last a long time, becoming chronic, a new set of psychological challenges can crop up. You may become discouraged and withdrawn, be afraid to compete due to risk of further injury, or have lower levels of energy. After all, long-term pain is exhausting!

I can help you work through these kinds of psychological blocks so you can get back to doing what you love.

“The more prepared I can be each week, the less pressure I feel and the more confident I am. As your confidence grows, it’s only natural that the pressure you feel diminishes. – Aaron Rodgers, football player

How I can help

Through 60- to 90-minute sessions, we’ll work together to explore the psychological impact of your sports injury. We’ll identify the emotions you’re feeling and develop a better understanding of where they’re coming from. You may already have a goal you want to work towards—if so, that’s great! Either way, we’ll create a cognitive hypnotherapy treatment plan to help you change your mindset, let go of past trauma, and manage any residual pain.
