EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique, also known as Tapping) is a type of energy treatment designed to help you release negative energy trapped within the body.  This could be caused by a past event, something in your life currently, or just simply by day to day life pressures.  

 

WHAT IS EFT?

EFT is a form of energy psychology. It is often referred to as a psychological form of acupuncture, just without the needles!  Energy psychology techniques work via the body’s nervous system and focus on the relationship between thoughts, emotions, sensations and behaviours. 

EFT draws on bioenergy systems like meridians and the biofield to process existing patterns within the mind-body-energy system.  

Energy psychology uses methods and models to help you work through psychological and emotional problems, improving your health, wellbeing and overall performance.

Energy therapies such as EFT, acupuncture, acupressure, shiatsu, reflexology and yoga have developed over thousands of years, with evidence in Europe as far back as the Bronze Age. The oldest written records can be found in China, as far back as 2000 BCE. 

In 1991, a mummy was found in the Alps displaying tattoos that corresponded to meridians used in acupuncture and acupressure or in the treatment of pain. This mummy dates back to 3000 BCE. India also has evidence of energy therapies dating back thousands of years. The use of energy therapies was not confined to China, India and Europe.  It is a worldwide phenomenon. 

Evolution of emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

EFT derived from Thought Field Therapy (TFT), which was created by American Psychologist Dr. Roger Callahan in the 1970s. It was later simplified by Gary Craig, who proposed that by tapping on a sequence of 14 meridian points, you no longer required a lengthy diagnosis, and it is easier to learn.

As EFT developed, the sequence of tapping points was shortened to 8 points known as ‘EFT Shortened Protocol’, which is the method most EFT practitioners now use.

EFT targets the underlying causes of your problems - the energetic disturbance. Since this is the foundation for issues, there is no limit to the potential areas where EFT can be used to help you. Most, if not all, problems are thought to have the same foundational structure - an underlying energetic disturbance.

As an EFT Practitioner, I aim to rebalance the energetic disturbance, so the problem you are experiencing no longer affects your life. This method teaches you a tool that gives you the power to manage your emotions day to day, and for any future problems that arise.
